May 12, 2011.  Fla­tRate­BizSites — a busi­ness that offers Word­Press Web­sites for small busi­nesses is now Page­Tent!  Not just the same ser­vice you have known and loved: we’re get­ting bet­ter every sin­gle month.

We changed the name because we believe pages + con­tent are what mat­ters, and our “flat rate,” model was not work­ing because it kept us “trans­ac­tional.”  Mean­ing this: we want a bunch of clients that have healthy busi­nesses long term.  We know that web­sites will grow and change all the time.

What works today wasn’t cur­rent in 2006.

What we’ll need tomor­row isn’t.

Most of the time, peo­ple pay for designs, and say “thanks,” and then the obso­lessence process begins: the site is get­ting more and more obso­lete each day.  The $2,000 you spend on a web­site starts los­ing value as soon as it’s live because it’s stuck with that set of func­tion­al­ity, tools and ser­vices.  No design­ers we know have a model for doing any­thing but sell­ing you more design work.

They only call when they’re here to sell you something.

They don’t have a long term rela­tion­ship with you.

We wanted to fix that.  By charg­ing a small upfront fee, and a low recur­ring fee, a small busi­ness owner can learn how  to com­mu­ni­cate on the web, and also have a com­pany that will con­tinue to improve the web­site each month, a step at a time.

Now, things aren’t 100% put together here.  There is still a good bit of work to be done.  How­ever we’re mak­ing good progress here, and we’re deliv­er­ing sites on time.

Remem­ber: you will a free upgrade every 15 months or so, and you get con­stant improve­ment and care by our team of peo­ple.  If you plan on being in busi­ness that long, you need to con­sider our options:

Exist­ing cus­tomers get 2 months free with us, and will be in at their “locked in” pric­ing.  New cus­tomers won’t be bumped up even in the event we raise our prices.  For a lim­ited time, we’re offer­ing our sites at an incred­i­bly low price.
